Hey Guys!

i got a Olight R20 Seeker this week – and i want to share some pictures and thoughts…

the Box:

unboxing:

the light comes together with:

a car plug, rated 1A (medium quality)

a 100 cm long USB cable

a standard lanyard

two spare ORings

english User manual and some promotion flyers

lets have a look at the light:

imho a beautiful clean look! and a working anti-roll-design…

i found no problems at the inscription or anodisation

lets get to the hot side first!

in front of the AR-coates glas lens you find a blue GITD ORing and behind a smooth reflector

a perfect centered XM-L2

what makes that light special ist the possibility to charge it via USB

the Port is hidden down here:

just unscrew the very well lubed cover and get access to the micro-USB port

no one wonders – red when charging and green when full!

but when you close the cover again there are remainings from the lube…

you want it to tailstand? bad luck!

but the hole for the lanyard is perfect with no sharp edges

If you unscrew the tailcap (which has not enough friction in my opinion!) you see

again well lubed square cut threads and a perfect anodisation and a bare edge which makes a lockout possible!

the tailcap has a special “shoulder” to make good contact

a look inside the battery tube shows us the backside of the driver (or contactplate) with 2 springs

the center is BAT+ and the outer one is negative used for charging

the charging feature works ONLY with special Olight batteries!

on the negatice side they are like all cells

but around the plus there is a second minus:

lots of cables and PCBs must be inside…

comparing to a unprotected (pulled) cell, a eagletek 2600, a standard 3400 from Olight and a Panasonic NCR – my newest one is on the right..

-> the special Cell from Olight is 70 mm long! (as is my Panasonic) and ALL this cells work fine in the R20!

(sure – you can´t charge them, but spare batteries are good)

and all of them also draw the same Amps:

0,2A at LOW (80 Lumen)

1,85A at HIGH (600 Lumen)

i let i run for at least 10 minutes at high – but i saw no stepdown (as is mentioned in the manual after 5 min)

my thoughts:

+ it heats up well including the battery tube (easy to hold!)

+ the light is phantastic in build quality! Olight offers a 5y warranty – they know what they sell 😉

+ i like the sleek design

– the tailcap opens too easy

– i need a lower LOW

please find all the numbers i forgot at the interwebz: e.g.@ banggood
