REVIEW – “unbranded Prototype” of UTorch UT03

veröffentlicht am 10. May 2017 in flashlights von

Hello my friends!

i got a Box today with a new light in it. (thanks to Jona from gearbest!)

since its an early Prototype it has no branding, accessories or a user manual
all of my findings and measures may not apply on the final product!

Specs as far as i can see:
3x XHP70 12V in parallel
4x 18650 in series
SMO reflector
side switch with LED

UI (as far as i found out)
short click to switch on (mode memory)
long click to start in Moon
short click goes Low-Mid-High-Turbo-High-Mid-Low-Mid…
long click to switch off (1-2 sec)

double (from any mode) click activates: TURBO 2
short click then toggles strobe-SOS-Beacon
double click to off

i will try to add more pictures, measurements and more text as soon as possible,

but i need to show the first impressions right now Big Smile

Day 2

I took some more pictures

do you notice that also head and batterytube (still glued ;)) have a different color?

another angle

machining marks …

my sample did not get full attention 🙁

the knurling is perfect and gives good grip

the switch is raised a bit to make it easier to find

the status LED indicates the cell voltage (blue/purple-ish/red)

dig

the square cut thread have not been lubed well from factory – i did that to lower the massive amount of force needed to open the tailcap

(seems the Oring is too thick or tailcap to narrow – for my other tests i removed the Oring…)

well done battery “carrier”

no sharp edges

a look down the tube shows the 4S cell configuration

dav

the tailcap of my sample was taken from the Manker shelf 😉

when i opened the (non-glued/non-greased) bezel the Oring to the lens broke

thick lens

clear, uncoated

the Oring on the body survived (dry) + regular threads

the reflector

no flaws

they said prototype – so i say thats okay

the LEDs are not centered good (but well enough) because they do not sit 100% on the spot

No.1

N0.2

N0.3 looks good

soldering on the aluminium MCPCB

prototype…

my biggest concern: the SMO reflector 🙁
i see a hole in the spot

pointing on a dark painted wall in my “homecinema”

Moon

Low

Mid

in the video its more noticeable

OUTDOOR beamshots:
will be added when it does not rain 🙁

i made a video tring to show how the light works on different voltages 😉
